Stories of New Jersey shares brief snapshots of those who have struggled economically in our state, because economic struggle is a very real part of the story of New Jersey. The people we highlight are our neighbors and community members, people who are too often pushed into the shadows. In this new campaign we are shining a light on their struggle and their courage. The stories will feature a spectrum of struggle — from homelessness to trying to survive on a low wage job.
This is a project of the Anti-Poverty Network of New Jersey. APN works closely with its partners at the New Jersey Coalition to End Homelessness and Soul of Hunger in raising the voices of people directly affected by poverty.
We hope that by sharing these individual stories we can change perceptions about the causes and consequences of poverty. With greater understanding we can promote solutions that will impact the systems that perpetuate poverty and inequality.
